It is possible to freeze raw eggs to keep them longer. However, several rules must be observed to avoid any risk to health.

One of the main things you have to do is to wash the eggs. The shells themselves can carry germs so you want to get rid of those by washing the eggs. Do so by putting the egg under water and rubbing it gently without using soap. Then, you simply have to dry the eggs with a clean cloth.

Now that you know what you must do with your eggs before you even consider freezing them, it’s time to make another decision – are you freezing them whole or separating the whites and yolks?

  • If you’re freezing egg whites and yolks separately, go ahead and separate them now.
  • Once that’s done, you have to place the eggs in freezer bags.
  • Remove as much air as possible and close them.
  • If you don’t want to separate the whites and the yolks, grab your whisk and mix them up.
  • Then, pour the beaten eggs into a freezer bag, take out the air and place it in the freezer once you label it.
  • You may also want to write down how many eggs you have in each bag.

Importantly, the shelf life in the freezer of raw eggs is 4 months maximum, so put the deadline on the bag so you do not forget to use them.
