DIY Wooden Plant Pot – Display Succulents Plants In Style

Succulents are hot these days, and with good reason… they are beautiful, inexpensive (the small ones, anyways) and fairly easy to care for.

So today I wanted to share a fun DIY succulent planter project with you. It doesn’t require very many materials, and it won’t take you long to make either!

Supplies Drill with 1 1/2 inch drill bit Wooden blocks that are 3×3 inches (and however tall you want) Metalized polyester film tape Acrylic craft paint Paintbrush

Let's make  Display Succulents Plants In Style

Step 1

Begin by placing the wood in a vice and drilling a hole in the top of the wood block. Full disclosure: I ended up switching to a different kind of drill bit (one of these) that was slightly smaller because this one was difficult to work with.

Step 2

My blocks started out blue, so I decided to paint the top two thirds white to give it a color-blocked look. The edge of the paint doesn’t have to be perfectly straight because it will be covered by the tape. Let the paint dry thoroughly, and add a second coat if you prefer.

Step 3

Now it’s time to add the tape. Start halfway across one side and wrap it all the way around the block until you reach the point where you started. Overlap it about a quarter of an inch. Cut the tape and smooth it out.
