DIY Party Crackers

Pop open some fun with party crackers made from toilet paper rolls! There are dozens of toiler paper roll crafts out there, but we wanted to do something that was feminine and festive. Though crackers are traditionally used in many countries during Christmas time, we thought we’d bring some of that party spirit to a summer party, like a birthday or bridal shower.

For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Tissue paper
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors
  • Patterned Edge Punch
  • Pattern Cut Scissors
  • X-Acto knife

Before you begin, you’ll want to fill your cracker with fun goodies, like candy and confetti. However, if you want to mix it up for a themed bridal shower or birthday party, fill the popper with something like jewelry or beauty products.

Step 1: Roll toilet paper roll inside the tissue paper, lapping the paper around at least twice to avoid seeing the brown of the roll.

Step 2: Use a clear piece of tape to seal the tissue paper closed. Then twist the tissue paper just at the mouth of the toilet paper roll.

Step 3: Trim the edges with a pair of pattern edge scissors and then tie the edges with twine. Cover with cardstock and get creative!

Dress up your cracker with cardstock in a personalized way that will be unique to your event and your guests. Use patterned edge cutters and pattern scissors to add a feminine flair. Personalize each cracker with the names of your guests. Do this by placing two pieces of cardstock flat, one on top of the other. Write the name of your guest on the top layer of cardstock with a thick marker. Trace the outline of the name with an X-Acto knife, pressing firmly to cut through the top layer to reach the bottom layer of cardstock. Take the name cutout and tie it to the end of the cracker.
