Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means that it’s time to start thinking about transitioning from Halloween decor to Thanksgiving table decor. And it doesn’t have to be difficult – all you’ll need are a few supplies from your local craft store, and some leaves from your backyard. Let’s get started!

Here’s what you’ll need for your Thanksgiving table decor:

  • Scrap wood (mine was about 4×36″)
  • 5 mercury glass votives with tea lights
  • Gold Liquid Leaf
  • Paintbrush
  • 3 small pumpkins
  • 6-8 oak leaves
  • Assorted artificial floral accent stems

Step by step guide for Thanksgiving centerpiece:

Step 1: Paint the pumpkins

Begin by painting your pumpkins with the Liquid Leaf. It’s best to use an old paintbrush for this because the Liquid Leaf is oil based… I use this brush exclusively for leafing. Alternatively, you could clean your brush with xylene.

Step 2: Add on the scrap wood

Place the pumpkins on the scrap wood, spacing them out evenly as shown above.

Step 3: Mercury glass votives

Next, place the mercury glass votives in between the pumpkins. Putting two together will split things up visually a bit so it doesn’t look too symmetrical.

Step 4: Faux flowers

Intersperse the artificial floral accents throughout the centerpiece, in between the pumpkins and the votives. Lastly, insert your oak leaves in any areas that look a bit empty. Position some of them flat underneath and some vertically or diagonal for variety.

Be sure not to place the leaves above the candles… we don’t want your centerpiece to catch on fire!

Conclusion

And that’s all there is to it. It only takes a few minutes to assemble everything, so you could even do this as a last minute arrangement if you’re running short on time.

The brown oak leaves give a very natural feel, but you could also use colorful maple leaves to add some pops of red or yellow to your table.

And if gold isn’t your favorite finish, silver or copper would be beautiful in this arrangement as well.
