How To Make A Natural Hair Moisturizer
I don’t know about you, but my hair was still super dry after a long chilly winter. And the store-bought deep conditioner that I had just wasn’t cutting it. So I decided to go all-natural (it’s healthier that way anyway) and see if something homemade would work better. And boy, did it ever! Keep reading to find out how to mix up a natural hair moisturizer using only three ingredients!
Here’s what you’ll need to make a Natural Hair Moisturizer:
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of bio active manuka honey (or any raw honey will work)
- 1-2 drops of orange essential oil
How to make the Natural Hair Moisturizer:
Begin by combining the coconut oil with the honey. Coconut oil is usually in solid form, but it has been warm the last few days so mine was fairly liquid.
Next, add a drop or two of orange essential oil. I chose orange because I love the scent of these three ingredients together, but you could choose any essential oil you like.
Heat up the mixture in the microwave for 5 seconds, and then stir thoroughly. Check to make sure it is cool enough to touch. If so, flip your hair upside down and apply the moisturizer to the ends and middle portion of your hair. Clip it on top of your head and leave in for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and shampoo and condition as usual.
The result is soft, silky hair that is no longer dry! It feels so velvetyand luxurious, and the ends don’t look ratty like they did before. You may want to double the recipe if you have a dry scalp and would like to moisturize your entire head. Use this once a week and your friends will beg you to tell them your secret!
