How to Make A Cinnamon Stick Candle Holder

What’s better than a cute candle holder? A cute candle holder that you made all by yourself, of course! We’d argue that you can actually take that concept even further and make yourself a cute candle holder that smells great when you light your candle, even though it’s not actually burning itself.

That’s how we decided to make this lovely cinnamon stick candle holder! We’ll outlined the steps for you here, but you can also find a video tutorial for this project at the very end of this post, just in case you find those easier to follow.

For this project, you’ll need:

  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Hot glue
  • Glass candle holder
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors

Step 1: Gather your materials!

Get all of your items and ingredients together.

Step 2: cut cinnamon sticks

Cut your cinnamon sticks to a length that is closer to the height of your shot glass or glass tea light holder if necessary. Then start gluing them carefully onto the glass. We suggest making the glue lines on the glass itself, rather than applying the glue to the cinnamon sticks. This way, you have a little more control over whether the lines are straight, and therefore whether the cinnamon sticks will sit straight all the way around.

Step 3: glue to glass

As you make lines of glue on the glass, press the individual cinnamon sticks into the lines, holding them for a few seconds each to make sure they really settle into the glue and stick. We applied three lines of glue at a time and then pressed three cinnamon sticks down, one in each line, before going back to the glue. Repeat this process all the way around until the whole glass is covered in cinnamon sticks.

Step 4: tie with ribbon

Add a pop of colour by tying a ribbon around the middle! We used blue and chose a ribbon that is quite thin and delicate looking, but you could use whatever colour and thickness of ribbon you choose. Simple wrap it around and tie it in a tight bow.

The candle itself might not be a scented one, but we think this project is a great way to add a slightly seasonal scent to any space without letting it overwhelm the whole room, thanks to the subtle aroma of doing just about anything with real cinnamon sticks!
