The 10 Best Glass Bottle Cutters for Creative Crafters in 2023

When we were kids, we weresuper enthusiastic crafters. As we got older, however, we sadly lost a lot of the spare time we’d originally had to dedicate to creative things, so we went through a crafting drought for a number of years. Recently, however, we’ve been able to make more time for DIY projects, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about that.

Best Glass Cutting Tools

One of the skills that we’ve long been wanting to learn, since so many of the DIY home decor projects we’ve been wistfully bookmarking as “to try later” involved this, is glass bottle cutting. There are just so many awesome and impressive upcycled things you can make with wine, beer, and other glass bottles that have been cut around their bottom, top, or mid-section. That’s why we’ve been browsing the options online for ordering a new glass bottle cutter that we can safely learn how to use in anticipation of making some of these things.

The Best Glass Bottle Cutting Tools

Now, we’ve always been the kind of research-driven people who put a lot of time into making sure we’re really looking at all the features of something we might buy, just to make sure we really make the right choice in the end.

That research process usually involves making lists, and sometimes we feel like sharing those option lists with other crafters so they can see which models we thought were the best. Check out these fantastic glass cutters and glass cutting kits that we came across in our search.

How to Cut Glass Bottles

Cutting glass bottles is fairly easy to do when using a glass bottle cutter. In fact, you’ll only have to go through a few easy steps to make it work, so nothing too complicated.

If you have already made your choice of bottle cutters, then it’s not going to be difficult to make your own cool art, as you’ll mainly have to follow the instructions on your tool. Nonetheless, let’s go over a few general steps that apply to most glass bottle cutters.

  1. Make sure to adjust the rollers so the area you want to cut through is on the scoring blade. The bottle should be snug against the blade.
  2. Rotate the blade counterclockwise, creating a scraping sound. This means your bottle has an etching on it.
  3. Be careful about the glass powder!
  4. Check the line and make sure it is continuous, or it will not break.
  5. Once you’re sure the score is perfect, hold the bottle over the sink and pour very hot water for 5 seconds, rotating it so the hot water reaches everywhere.
  6. Then, pour cold water over the same line for 5 seconds.
  7. Tug the top of the jar or bottle to remove the top portion.
  8. Using sandpaper, go over the edge to level it out.
