Confetti Jewelry Trays

When I craft, I’m always trying to make items that I can use in my everyday life. I also like to add as much color as possible in my house and my bedroom is the perfect room to do so. If you want a simple DIY that will help you declutter your jewelry, consider making this jewelry tray using confetti and a few other supplies. It definitely adds some color to your dresser and is great for storing small items like bracelets, watches and earrings. Let’s get started!

Resin jewelry tray

For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • A wooden tray
  • Tissue paper
  • Circle hole punch
  • Modpodge Resin
  • Paint Brush
  • Acrylic paint

Step 1:

I purchased a wooden tray from my local craft store. I like the smaller ones that can sit on my dresser or are small enough to be placed inside a drawer. These trays come in all shapes and sizes but just be sure to choose something that has low sides. Start by wiping your wooden tray down so it’s free of any dust or debris. I decided to paint the tray white, so it’s best to wipe it down so little to no imperfections show through the paint.

Step 2:

Paint the entire tray any color you’d like and set it aside to dry. This should take about 30 minutes.

While the paint is drying, use the circle punch to punch out holes in the tissue paper. I chose a pink and yellow color scheme and punched out a lot of circles to use as confetti. You can skip this step if you have a bag of precut confetti from either a craft or party store. The great part about this is that there’s no limit to the type of confetti you can use.

Step 4:

When the paint is dry, paint a thin layer of Modpodge on the inner-bottom of the tray. Then add a layer of the circle confetti. Be sure to space out the circles evenly and spread the different colors out. I also cut some circles in half to line against the edge of the tray.

Step 5:

Squeeze and pour the Modpodge resin on top of the confetti. Make sure that you fill in every inch of the tray. I only needed one bottle of resin for this craft, but you may need more than one depending on how large your tray is. Fill it with resin until the confetti is completely covered.

Step 6:

Let this dry according to manufacturer’s instructions. You should only need a few hours, but I let it dry overnight just to be sure.

When it’s dry to the touch, the confetti should show through clear. Put this on your dresser and throw your small jewelry in it every day for quick and easy, colorful organization!
