DIY Leather Plant Holder

Give your plant a little lift with this easy DIY leather plant holder! A while back when cement home decor pieces were trending, I got on board and made my own planter. I popped in a jade plant and set my planter on the windowsill in my kitchen since it was the perfect fit.  Even though my planter has been sitting on my kitchen windowsill for only a couple of years, I thought it was time for an update.  I wanted to have the ability to hang my plant, so I made a leather plant hanger!

Leather Plant Holder

This leather plant holder was really easy to make.  I found some scrap leather I had stored in my craftroom, grabbed some scissors and a gold ring and whipped this baby up in less than an hour.  I think the leather gives the planter a chic, sophisticated look.  What do you think?

Here’s how to create your own leather plant holder:

Wrap your string around the planter from one side to the other and cut it. This will give you the length for your leather pieces.

Your string will be a guide to cut your leather strips. You’ll need 2 leather strips that are 1 inch wide and the length of your string.

Run the other end of the strip through the hole in the opposite. Tie knots on both ends.  Repeat these steps with the other long strip of leather and your remaining strip with holes cut in it.  Cross your two wider strips of leather so they form a plus sign.  Place glue on the center to adhere them together.

Lay your leather strips on the floor and place your planter in the center. All you need to do is pull up the leather straps and hang your ring from a hook and you are good to go!
