Tassels come in many different materials from string to leather. What I love most about the look of tassels is the extra detail they can add to a plain shoe, or even a boring necklace.

The construction of a tassel may look difficult, but it is actually quite the opposite. Tassels are so easy to make that, once you make one, you won’t stop at just a keychain; you will be adding tassels to everything you own!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Tassel Fringe
  • Lever-Back Key Chain
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Step 1: Open your tassel fringe package, removing the staples from the leather. Once both of your leather tassels are removed, cut ¼ inch from the bottom of the first piece of fringe on one of your tassels.

Step 2: Grab your key chain and slide your cut piece of fringe through the bottom loop of your key chain.

Step 3: Add glue to the bottom part of your fringe and glue it to the top section of your fringe, creating a loop.

Step 4: Next you will want to add glue to the top of the piece of fringe you just glued to the base, press it down, closing the loop of your fringe.

Step 5: Add a generous amount of glue to the top section of your fringe, covering it from top to bottom.

Step 6: Begin rolling your fringe, starting on the side of your fringe that has your keychain.

Step 7: When you get to the end of rolling your tassel, grab your other fringe and glue it to your first piece of fringe, aligning both ends. Add glue to the top of your second fringe and begin rolling it until the entire piece of fringe has been glued.

Since your keychain has a lever at the end of it, it makes it super easy to add and remove it from your keys.
